East Coast Floorbal Tournament
New York and Boston tied atop the round robin standings, but the championship game belonged to Boston in the August 30-31 competition in Morrisville, the sport’s first East Coast tournament. Boston beat NYC 4-0 in the final game of the six-team event, which was hosted by the Triangle Floorball Club Raleigh at the Carolina Sportsplex.
The event included four men and four women from the U.S. national teams, and the competing teams included players from Canada, England, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
NYC and Boston had 13 points each in round-robin play, followed by Toronto, seven; Carolina Alpha, six; Carolina Zeta, four; and Tournament Team, zero. Victories were worth three points and ties one. Games consisted of 22-minute halves, with 5-minute halftimes. The top four teames reached the playoffs where New York topped Carolina Alpha 6-4 and Boston beat Toronto 11-1.
Boston’s Lasse Heikura was the event’s top scorer, getting 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points. New York’s Peter Davidson had 13 goals and 6 assists for 19 points and Carolina Alpha’s Andreas Runheim put in 10 goals and made 5 assists for 15 points.
“We put the tournament on in part to get the greater floorball community to get to know each other and grow a little closer, as well as to energize the various groups that are out there so that we can all work on growing the sport of floorball in the USA,” said Ollie Rupp, one of the organizers of the tournament. “The TFC Raleigh also just purchased the first floorball rink in the USA... to provide a genuine floorball rink to the floorball community and to visually set the sport of floorball apart from similar looking games like street hockey, deck hockey, or floor hockey.”
The TFC Raleigh is open to all players. Juniors practice and play 8-10 a.m. Saturdays at the Carolina Sportsplex, and seniors (16 and up) practice and play 10-noon on Saturdays. For information, e-mail Sarah Young at trifloorball@yahoo.com or go to www.trifloorball.org.

The USFA becomes the USFbA!
As you might have noticed the USA Floorball Association acronym has been changing on the website. The work is not yet complete but we feel we should inform everyone why. The simple fact is that the USFA is the US Fencing Associaton.

We where not aware of this and aplogise to the USFA for any inconvinience this might have caused them. We also send thanks for their understanding in this matter.

We will continue the work with changing the acronyms on the website until it is complete. So from now on the USA Floorball Association is know as the USFbA.
